Andre'
LaMothe began Xtreme Games LLC 5 years ago, becoming one of the
Silicon Valley’s finest sleepless pioneers. He recently released a
new volume for game programmers called Tricks of the Windows Game
Programming Gurus. The book is a detailed volume of game
programming information and supplemental materials and
techniques.
LaMothe is also the author of many
other game programming books, including Tricks of the Game
Programming Gurus, Sams Teach Yourself Game Programming in 21
Days, and Windows Game Programming for Dummies.
"Game programming is the most complex form of engineering. It is
the culmination of every science we know and then taking it to a point
where all the science is hidden and all that is left is this
interactive game that looks like magic to the end user," says
LaMothe
“The
modeler that I primarily use for simple to medium scale 3D models and
animation is Caligari trueSpace4. This is the best 3Dmodeler for the
price. It’s a few hundred dollars and has the best interface there
is….trueSpace is the way to go.” says Andre'.
trueSpace
helps me simply render everything, I stopped drawing 2D images, I
almost do everything with trueSpace even if it is 2D, I render it as a
bitmap and use it.
trueSpace
allows me and my developers to create high quality 3D graphics and
animation for our 2D/3D games quickly and intuitively. Moreover, the
learning of curve of trueSpace is much shorter then Max or Maya, but
the quality level of trueSpace is right up there in terms of
capabilities.
LaMothe
is not only a successful author, but a successful businessman as well.
His gaming network spans 269 companies and claims the title of
“worlds largest virtual game company.” "We take a lot of the
technology that someone who could make a high-end game would use and
apply it to these lower-value games so they are very unique and
competitive. You simply can't compete with our game technology."
Soon LaMothe hopes to publish games
within his own company via new marketing strategies. He would like to
open up the gaming community to people other than the typical
“gamer.”
